1.Archeology and Narrative History Application of Subject:
Epimedium is a low-growing herb in the same family as coptis. Often used in Chinese medicine as a pungent tea, its yellow green leaves are traditionally steeped in wine before being fashioned into pills. Its Chinese name yin yang huo is literally translated as "herb for the licentious old goat."
The Chinese consider horny goat weed a top libido-lifter for men and women, and top aid to erectile function in men. The exact way horny goat weed works is unknown. However, the plant has long been used to restore sexual desire, boost erectile function, reduce fatigue and even alleviate menopausal discomfort.

2.3.Differentiation from transliteration:
Behind the funny name of horny goat weed stands a time-tested aphrodisiac that increases libido in men and women, and improves erectile function in men. Known also as Epimedium or Yin Yang Huo, horny goat weed was first described in ancient classical Chinese medicinal texts. Today, horny goat weed holds an important place in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is gaining popularity around the world.
2.3.1.Modern Translations:
Chinese Pinyin:Yin Yang Huo,Yang He Ye,or Yangheye(leaves making goat coitus),He Ye Cao(grass making goat sexual intercourse),Xian Ling Pi(Quick Spleen elixir),San Zhi Jiu Ye Cao(3 branch 9 leaves grass)
Name Origin:Centuries ago, Chinese goat farmers noticed that both their youngerˇand older goats experienced sexual rejuvenation after eating the Epimedium plantˇor, in more general terms, Horny Goat Weed.Horny goat weed (Epimedium) is a pungent ornamental herb found in Asia and the Mediterranean. The Chinese call it Yin Yang Huo, which loosely means "licentious goat plant." Legend has it that the name came from a herder who noticed his goats becoming more sexually active after eating the plant.
2000 Year Old Sex Tonic "...for the man who likes sex too much, like a goat"
Known in China as Yin Yang Huo, horny goat weed was first described in classic Chinese medicinal texts dating back more than two thousand years. The Chinese use the term Yin Yang Huo in reference to any of several species of epimedium, a leafy groundcover that grows most abundantly at higher altitudes. The Chinese name for Horny Goat Weed is translated as, "the herb for the man that likes sex too much, like a goat."
English Name:Epimedium Herb,Herba Epimedii,shorthorned Epimedium Herb
U.S.name:Horn Goat Weed:Epimedium is a genus of twenty-one related plant species. The Chinese refer to epimedium as "yin yang huo", which has been loosely translated by some as "licentious goat plant" and explains why Western supplement companies have adopted the titillating name by which it is known in the U.S: (horny goat weed).

2.4.Archeology of Quality or Substance Identification:Barter to Standardization:
2.4.1.Use in Old Times:The use of epimedium as a medicinal herb dates back to at least 400 A.D., where it has been used as a tonic for the reproductive system (boosting libido and treating impotence) and as a rejuvenating tonic (to relieve fatigue). Epimedium is thought to work via modulation of cortisol levels (the primary stress hormone). Under conditions of high stress, the increased cortisol levels are known to cause fatigue and depress sex drive - so bringing cortisol levels back into normal ranges is also thought to help restore normal metabolism, energy levels and libido.

3.Daily life uses of subject material:
3.1.General Scope Description:
3.1.1.Sex drive(among both sexes)
Epimidium extract "...is reputed to have a sexual stimulatory effect on [human] males. The herb can stimulate growth of the prostate, testes, and anus rector muscle [in rodents]. Studies have reported that persons taking this herb show an increase in sperm production...."
Horny Goat Weed stimulates the nerves throughout the entire body especially n the genital area according to researchers. Desire is also increased along with erectile function, increased testosterone levels, androgen like influence on the testes, prostate and important sexual muscles.Horny Goat Weed used alot in the Super Orgasma formula in USA and help girls reach G.point and improves the quality of life.
Mechanisms of action of Horny Goat Weed:
Research has shown that Horny Goat Weed significantly increases testosterone in mice. This certainly appears to be the herb's mechanism of action, although Horny Goat Weed may have more than one. For example, it has been established that sexual arousal is linked to the activity of cholinergic neurotransmitters. However, an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inactivates cholinergic neurotransmitters within 1/500 of a second. As it turns out, research shows that Horny Goat Weed is capable of inhibiting AChE. Such an inhibition may support higher levels of the key cholinergic neurotransmitters associated with sexual arousal. In addition, research has shown that Horny Goat Weed has anti-fatigue effects and helps prevents adrenal exhaustion.
Aphrodisiac research:
Horny Goat Weed's aphrodisiac effects has been verified in both animal and human research. Mice treated with a Horny Goat Weed preparation produced "apparent effects on the improvement of sexuality." It was also shown to improve sperm producing capability. Since Horny Goat Weed has been traditionally used for kidney disease, it's interesting that research has demonstrated a sexual potentiation effect and improved quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure who were given Horny Goat Weed.
Scientific Support:
Animal studies have shown that epimedium may function a bit like an adaptogen (such as cordyceps, rhodiola, ashwagandha, and ginseng) by increasing levels of epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine when they are low (an energy-promoting effect), but reducing cortisol levels when they are elevated (an anti-stress effect). There is also evidence that epimedium can restore low levels of both testosterone and thyroid hormone (bringing low levels back to their normal levels) - which may account for some of the benefits of epimedium in improving libido (sex drive). Animal studies using epimedium have shown a reduction in bone breakdown, an increase in muscle mass, and a loss of body fat-each of which may be linked to the observed return of abnormal cortisol levels back to normal values (and rhythm). In a series of studies conducted in humans and animals by Chinese researchers, immune-system function was directly suppressed and bone loss was accelerated, by using high-dose synthetic cortisol (glucocorticoid drugs). Subsequent administration of epimedium extract reduced blood levels of cortisol and improved immune immune-system function (in the humans) and slowed bone loss and strengthened bones (in the animals).
Dosage:
Because all of the existing scientific evidence for the anti-stress and cortisol-controlling effect of epimedium has been demonstrated for water-extracted epimedium (that is, as a tea), and because this form of extraction may result in a safer form of epimedium (compared to the high-icariin alcohol extract), it may be prudent to select supplements that specifically use a more traditional formulation. There have been no reports of adverse side effects associated with the traditional preparation of epimedium (water-extracted) at the suggested dosage (250-1,000mg/day in 2-3 divided doses).
Safety:
It is interesting to note that although at least 15 fifteen active compounds have been identified in epimedium extracts, (luteolin, icariin, quercetin, and various epimedins), many supplement companies currently use alcohol extracts standardized only for high levels of icariin. The traditional use of epimedium, however, is as a hot-water decoction (tea), which would result in a very different profile of active constituents when compared to the high-icariin alcohol extracts that are more commonly used in commercial products. Although at least one test test-tube study has shown icariin to protect liver cells from damage with by various toxic compounds, other feeding studies (in rodents) have suggested that high-dose icariin may be associated with kidney and liver toxicity. There have been no reports of adverse side effects associated with the traditional preparation of epimedium (water-extracted) at the suggested dosage (250 to 1,000mg per day).
It is a robust all-natural stimulant that can support a more robust life as well as love-life.
3.1.2.Diarrhea and urinary incontinence.
Chinese physicians report that epimedium stimulates muscle growth in the sphincter muscles, which helps bring incontinence under control.
Gonorrhea. Epimedium kills the bacteria that cause gonorrhea and stimulates the activity of germ-eating immune cells called macrophages.
3.1.3.High blood pressure.
Epimedium increases blood flow to the heart by causing the coronary blood vessels to dilate. This action lowers blood pressure and is long-lasting, although the body can develop a tolerance to the herb after long-term use.
3.1.4.HIV/AIDS
Impotence, and infertility. Unlike the many herbs that have estrogen like effects, epimedium is an unusual herb in that it has testosterone like effects. It stimulates sexual activity in both men and women, increases sperm production, stimulates the sensory nerves, and increases sexual desire. This herb increases blood flow to the penis and also prevents a protein called fibrin from being deposited on capillary walls, thus preventing loss of sexual function in men with atherosclerosis. Epimedium's testosterone like actions also allow it to fight the muscle wasting experienced by many people with AIDS. In laboratory tests, chemical components of the herb even act against the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) itself.
3.1.5.Cautions and Safety:
Epimedium formula should be taken as directed by an herbalist. It is a relatively nontoxic herb, but with prolonged use can cause side effects such as dizziness, vomiting, dry mouth, increased thirst, or nosebleed. If any of these symptoms appear, discontinue the herb. Extreme overdoses can result in exaggerated reflexes, spasms, and respiratory arrest. People with prostate disorders or high blood pressure should avoid epimedium.

Shorten recovery time between orgasms;Increase your partners pleasure.
Mono-amine-oxidase-inhibitor activity:
In 1990, researchers discovered that extracts of Epimedium might have mono-amine-oxidase-inhibitor activity. They showed that levels of noradrenaline, serotonin, and dophamine were all elevated in animals after given Epimedium. Higher levels of dophamine particularly may help to explain the pro-sexual effect of Epimedium. High dophamine levels encourage the release of leutenizing hormone(LH) from the pituitary gland. LH in turn stimulates the testes to produce more testosterone. Also, Chinese researchers have also observed that Epimedium has a testosterone like effect on the levator ani muscle . This muscle when well toned, as under stimulation from testosterone, will help create and maintain erection and increase the force of ejaculation

5.All the relations of subject and market
5.1.General Scope Description:
One major issue in the world today is sexuality. Do I look good enough? I wonder if he or she likes me? While most of the world today is becoming increasingly sexually active, there are others are out there who are lacking in this field. Their bodies are no longer inclined to have or sex, or their sexual drive loses the battle between time and fatigue. Horny Goat Weed is said to be the cure of this "problem." Horny Goat Weed, also known as Epimedium, Yin Yang Huo, Inyokaku, and Herba Epimedii, was discovered around 200 B.C. Legend has it that an ancient Chinese goat herder noticed that his flock suddenly became sexually active after eating in a certain patch of weeds. Further investigation of this weed patch and a little leaf chewing resulted in the discovery of Horny Goat Weed
5.2.Different cases and statistical analysis:
Purpose of Treatment:
There are many different claims as to what Horny Goat Weed actually does. Online stores and distributors, which are more focused on marketing the herb for increased sexual behavior, main claims are stimulating sex activity in both men and women, increase in sperm production, stimulation of the sensory nerves, and increasing sexual desire.
Online sites, which appear to be more focused on health, make claims that Horny Goat Weed invigorates the kidneys and strengthens yang(for deficiency of kidney-yang manifested as impotence, emission, enuresis, frequent micturition, soreness of the waist and the knees, and sterility), strengthen tendons and bones, expel wind-dampness(which is otherwise known as flatulence, caused by the improper indigestion of food), and eliminate coughing and phlegm related to chronic asthma
Effectiveness:
None of the sites found gave any type of claims about the effectiveness of this type of treatment. They did include weak evidence for supposed research saying how it works, but no guarantees that it would work if someone bought and used it. The natural assumption was that because the herb is so old and still around, it must work or else no one would use it anymore. Horny Goat Weed has been around for a very long time and is still used in many supplements as well as being sold as its self. Marketers probably assume that false testimony would prove to be ineffective.
