How to use Panax notoginseng:dosage,cautions,etc.

3-10 g., decoction. 1-1.5 g, powder form.

Acute Toxicity:Notoginseng Total Triterpenes.

Oral.30 Rodent-male-mouse.average body weight 18~22 grams,divide into 3 groups,oral dose at difference dosage of total triterpenes:6000mg/kg,7800mg/kg,10140mg/kg.Result:reduced activity,calm and quiet,different level of mitigation,continuous observation 5 days no death of mouse,good health conditions,repeated experiment as same conditions result the similar.

4 Dogs,average body weight 10~13 kgs,divide into 2 groups,difference dosage of total triterpenes:Intravenous injection.100 mg/kg for group A;Intraperitoneal injection.200 mg/kg for group B.Result:reduced activity,calm and quiet,slow response to stimulations,different level of mitigation,continuous observation 15 days no death or toxic effects,good health conditions,activity and appetite normal.

In acute toxicity experiment,dog Intravenous injection.100 mg/kg and Intraperitoneal injection.200 mg/kg no death or toxic effects.Oral for rodent-mouse at high dosage of 10140 mg/kg still no toxic effects or death,and the result comes so high dose density and could not process LD test,thus prove the toxicity of Notoginseng Total Triterpenes very low and generally safe.
