Impotence, premature ejaculation, frequent micturition,frequency of urination, weakness of tendons, infertility, constipation in old ages,Chronic constipation of the aged.
Effects There are reports to show Cistanche has effects of increasing saliva secretion, lowering blood pressure and increasing of body weight.The effect of Cistanche is rather mild, and many times have to use a larger amount to gain the effects.
Contraindications:
Because it is a warm tonifying herb, it is not advice to use for subjects who have dryness of mouth, diarrhea and hot sensation in palms.
Dosage:How much cistanche should I take?
The standard dose of cistanche is 6~10grams daily, or 10-20 grams daily for stronger use, boiled in water for oral use.

Cistanche is extremely safe. The American Herbal Products Association has given it a class one rating, meaning that it can be consumed safely when used appropriately. However, because it is a warm, tonifying herb, it should not be used by patients with dry mouth or diarrhea, or patients diagnosed with yin deficiency. As of this writing, there are no known drug interactions with cistanche. As always, make sure to consult with a licensed health care provider before taking cistanche or any other herbal remedy or dietary supplement.
Applications:
1. For insufficiency of kidney-yang, consumption of essence and blood, premature ejaculation and impotence, it is often used with Radix Morindae Officinalis, Herba Epimedii, Cortex Eucommiae, Placenta Hominis, etc.; for infertility due to uterine cold, it is used with Colla Cornu Cervi, Folium Artemisiae Argyi, Cortex Cinnamomi, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, etc.; and for weakness of muscles and bones due to kidney-deficiency, it is used with Radix Morindae Officinalis and Cortex Eucommiae, etc.
2. For consumption of essence and blood, and constipation due to dryness of the intestines, it is often used with laxatives such as Herba Cynomorii, Fructus Cannabis and Radix Angelicae Sinensis.
