Dosage and Administration of Danshen.

Red sage root Extract INCI Name Salvia Miltiorrhiza Extract CAS 90106-50-6 EINECS ELINCS No 290-273-4 Dan-shen Extract Salvia miltiorrhiza BUNGE photo picture image Suggestive Dosage: 5-15 g.

 Decoct for oral administration: It should be used after being fried with wine to promote blood circulation by removing blood stasis.

 Cautions on Use: This herb is against black false hellebore root and rhizome (Radix et Rhizoma Veratri).

 Side Effects of red sage: While no major side effects have been reported from taking danshen, some individuals who used it have experienced itching or upset stomach.

 Risks of red sage:

 Due to the likelihood that it may increase bleeding, danshen should not be taken by individuals who have impaired blood clotting. Small children, pregnant women, and women who are breast-feeding should avoid danshen due to uncertainty about its possible effects for developing babies and young children.

 Interactions of red sage:

 Taking danshen may increase the risk of uncontrolled bleeding while an anticoagulant or antiplatelet drug or herbal is also being taken. In addition, danshen may interfere with the heart drug digoxin or herbal products that have digoxin-like effects.
