Lalang Grass Rhizome Extract Cogongrass Root Rhizoma ImperataeTreat bleeding syndromes due to invasion of pathogenic heat into the blood.
Treat strangury (slow and painful spasmodic discharge of urine drop by drop) caused by pathogenic heat,edema.
Miscellaneous.
Diuretic and antipyretic (reduces fever) effects.
Acute nephritis.
Antipyretic action.
Anti-Hepatitis.Antibiotic action.

Actions:used as antipyretic,blood purifying agent,hemostatic,diuretic;for the treatment of hematemesis,epistaxis,hematuria,febrile diseases with thirst,oliguria,jaundice,acute respiratory infection with cough,vomiting,stranguria,edema.
Cooling blood for hemostasis(cool the blood and stanch bleeding),
Clear heat and causing diuresis,
Clearing heat and promoting fluid production,
Inducing diuresis for treating strangurtia.

Properties:

Lalang Grass Rhizome Extract Cogongrass Root Rhizoma ImperataeIt also possesses some antipyretic action. The flower cools the blood with some hemostatic action. It was also reported that 21 cases of acute hepatitis (type A) out of 28 were cured with a daily dose of 100 g of cogongrass decoction. All the symptoms subsided within a period of 45 days.The other 7 cases were markedly ameliorated.

In the TCM system,the herb Rhizoma Imperatae(Bai Mao Gen) noted taste sweet and nature cold.Enter into lung,stomach,heart,small intestine,urinary bladder meridians.

In the TCM system,the herb Rhizoma Imperatae(Bai Mao Gen) indicated for various ailments including:blood-heat and hematemesis(heat in blood and spitting blood),bleeding from five aperture or subcutaneous tissue,hematuria(urinating blood),pyrexia with polydipsia,jaundice(icterus),edema(oedema,dropsy,hydroncus),pyretic stranguria inhibited painful urination(painful heat stranguria),lung heat and dyspnea with rapid respiration,acute nephritis edema,stomach heat with hiccup,clap(gonorrhoea,blenorrhagia,gonorrhea),dysuria(difficulty in micturition),dripping discharge of urine inhibited painful urination,edema(oedema,dropsy,hydroncus),jaundice(icterus).
Dosage:Suggested Dosage internal as decoction of dry herb 10~30 grams,fresh herb 30~60grams,or pounding juice,external proper amount fresh herb pounding juice and apply.

Safety and Toxicity:

The herb Imperata Root enjoyed as a traditional common used herb in ancient prescriptions and as a herbal tea over thousand years in China,it is safe enough for consumption as herbal supplement or teas.

 Toxicity:Rabbits fed decoction 25g/kg,36 hours later activity was inhibited,bradykinesia,faster breathing,but recovered quickly.Intravenous injection 10-15g/kg, the breathing rate,motion inhibition,gradually recovered in 1 hour,once the dose increased to 25g/kg,death in 6 hours.
