Botanical Source:dry root of Achyranthes bidentata Bl.
Common names: Achyranthes bidentata; Sichuan Ox Knee Root(Szechwan Ox-Knee Root); Cyathula Root; Chuan Niu Xi;Niu Xi;China Niu Xi.
Properties: Bitter, sweet and sour in flavor, mild in nature, it is related to the liver and kidney channels.
Harvest and Processing:Collect roots in winter when leaves wither; remove fibrous roots, soil and sand; tie roots up in small bundles; dry under the sun until shrivelled; cut evenly at the top end; dry under the sun again.
