Common Benefits of Naringin.
Properties:
Narinigin exerts a variety of pharmacological effects such as antioxidant activity, blood lipid-lowering, anticarcinogenic activity, and inhibition of selected cytochrome P450 enzymes including CYP3A4 and CYP1A2, which may result in several drug interactions in-vitro.
Weight Loss:Enhances lipid metabolism
Aocohol:Enhances ethanol metabolism, reduces negative effects of ethanol intake
Antioxidant:Acts as a free radical scavenger, acts as an antioxidant,Significantly inhibits LDL oxidation.
Antitoxic:Reduces cytotoxicity, protects against toxins in chemotherapy drugs and the environment
Anti-apoptotic:Acts as an anti-apoptotic
Anticarcinogenic :Protect from carcinogenic matter
Atherosclerosis:May reduce risk of atherosclerosis
Gastric Disorder:Used in the treatment of gastric lesions
Anti-Viral:Inhibits the Sindbis neurovirulent virus
Cholesterol control:Reduces total cholesterol levels
Protects plasma vitamin E levels
Prevents hypercholesterolemia
Anti-atherogenic:release anti-atherogenic properties.
Activity:
Naringin exerts a variety of pharmacological effects such as antioxidant activity, blood lipid lowering, anticancer activity, and inhibition of selected drug-metabolizing cytochrome P450 enzymes, including CYP3A4 and CYP1A2, which may result in drug-drug interactions in vivo. Ingestion of naringin and related flavonoids can also affect the intestinal absorption of certain drugs, leading to either an increase or decrease in circulating drug levels. To avoid interference with drug absorption and metabolism, the consumption of citrus (esp. grapefruit) and other juices with medications is contraindicated.
Naringin, followed by rutin, was the most potent flavonoid inhibitor of VEGF release, which causes angiogenesis, out of 21 flavonoids.
Application:
Naringin is a natural chemical compound known as a bioflavanoid found in grapefruit, giving it its bitter flavor. Hence, the food industry, however, uses naringin as a bitter in "tonic" beverages, bitter chocolate, ice cream, and ices.
This bioflavonoid has antioxidant and antifungal properties, and as such may help prevent cancer and atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries), as well as a number of other ailments, such as Herpes ,Diabetes,Alcoholism, Heart failure, Chronic venous insufficiency,Bruising.
Naringin also works synergistically with other nutrients, increasing the bio-availability (how much nutrient is absorbed by the body) and therefore maximizing the health benefits of these nutrients.
Of course,it is important to note this citrus extract interferes with enzyme activity in the intestines, and therefore can inhibit the breakdown of certain drugs. That is why you should consult with your physician if you are on any medication before eating grapefruit.
