Ligustrum lucidum is a Chinese medicinal plant that is often used in combination with other herbs in botanical formulas. There are several species of Ligustrum that are thought to have different medicinal properties. Traditionally, Ligustrum lucidum is used to treat diminished eye sight, dizziness, fever, insomnia, and lower back pain. Some herbalists also use it to treat side effects caused by chemotherapy and to increase immunity in cancer patients. In vitro studies have shown that the fruits of Ligustrum lucidum have antitumor, immunostimulatory, antioxidative, antiviral, antimutagenic, and hepatoprotective properties. However, human data to substantiate these observations are lacking. There are no reports of adverse effects from the use of Ligustrum.

Indications:Vertigo, tinnitus, weakness in the loins and knees, premature whitening of hair and impaired eyesight due to deficiency of yin of the liver and kidney. internally in the treatment of complaints associated with weak kidney and liver energy such as menopausal problems (especially premature menopause), blurred vision, cataracts, tinnitus, rheumatic pains, palpitations, backache and insomnia,respiratory tract infections, hypertension, Parkinson's disease and hepatitis.
